Grafton Redmen Recruit: English Fly-Half Miles Entwistle Arrives
English fly-half Miles Entwistle has arrived in the Clarence Valley as the latest Grafton Redmen recruit, bringing international experience and enthusiasm to the club’s 2026 campaign.
The 24-year-old from South East London, who plays with Beccehamian Rugby Club, travelled to Australia after being invited through a long-standing connection between Redmen coach Gary Powell and English rugby networks.
The opportunity came via an unexpected link with Entwistle’s father.
“Powelly played rugby with my old man back in the 90s,” Entwistle said.
“He messaged my dad and asked if I’d be interested in coming over to play No. 10 in Grafton. I said yes straight away.”
Since arriving just two weeks ago, the Grafton Redmen recruit said he has quickly settled into life in regional NSW.
“The lads have been brilliant and it’s a lovely place,” he said.
Entwistle joins a growing group of English players to wear the Redmen jersey in recent seasons, continuing a recruitment pathway that previously brought three Penryn Rugby Club players to the Clarence Valley in 2025.
After two impressive trial matches, he has already noticed differences between English and Australian rugby.
“The pace of the game is quicker here which is a nice change,” he said.
While adapting to the tempo has been easy, adjusting to the Northern Rivers climate has taken more effort.
“I’ve been loving the weather but struggling a bit with the heat,” he laughed.
