Man’s body recovered from Tweed River
A man’s body has been recovered from the Tweed River, in the state’s north today.
Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District were contacted about 2.30am today (Saturday 19 March 2022), after reports a 30-year-old man had jumped off a boat moored in the Tweed River near Chinderah.
Local police and officers attached to Marine Area Command, assisted by members of Marine Rescue NSW and Surf Life Saving NSW, commenced a search of the river and foreshore.
About 2.40pm today, a man’s body was located in waters nearby.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man.
An investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
