Magical Family Concert to Bring Music and Imagination to Mullumbimby These School Holidays

Families across the Northern Rivers are being invited to experience an enchanting morning of music, storytelling and interactive entertainment these winter school holidays when Once Upon a Song takes to the stage at the Drill Hall Theatre in Mullumbimby.

Designed for children aged three to 10 years and their families, the 60-minute live concert promises a magical journey through some of the world’s most-loved movie and musical soundtracks, blending live performance with storytelling and audience participation.

Audiences will enjoy songs inspired by popular productions including Frozen, Moana, Tangled, Wicked and K-pop Demon Hunters, with each musical number woven into a heartwarming story celebrating courage, friendship, imagination, adventure and the importance of believing in yourself.

The production has been created and will be performed by Northern Rivers soprano and performer Madeleine Eliza, whose recent performance as Hero in the acclaimed, sold-out production of A Midsummer Night’s Queen earned praise from local audiences.

As both a performer and a mother, Eliza said she wanted to create a memorable live theatre experience that would entertain children while also encouraging confidence and creativity.

“The heroines in these stories are brave, curious, adventurous and kind,” she said.

“I hope every child leaves feeling a little braver, a little more inspired, and reminded that they already have their own light to shine.”

Rather than simply presenting a concert, Once Upon a Song encourages young audience members to become part of the performance through interactive moments designed to spark imagination and keep children engaged from beginning to end.

The family-friendly production has been carefully tailored for younger audiences while offering nostalgic musical moments that parents and carers can also enjoy, making it an experience designed to be shared across generations.

Adding to the excitement, the performance concludes with a special photo opportunity, allowing children and their families to meet the performer and capture a lasting memory of the magical event.
