Free Caravan Safety Workshops in Ballina

Caravan owners across the region are invited to attend Free Caravan Safety Workshops hosted by Ballina Shire Council on Thursday 26 March 2026.

The workshops are designed to help both experienced caravan towers and newcomers improve safety on the road. Delivered in partnership with Transport for NSW, the sessions will focus on correct loading, towing techniques and practical safety advice before heading off on holiday.

Helen Carpenter, Road Safety Officer with Ballina Shire Council and Transport for NSW, said the workshops provide valuable expert guidance.

“Whether you are an experienced caravan tower or new to the game, come along and hear from the experts, get some great tips and have your questions answered,” Ms Carpenter said.

The Caravan Safety Workshops will include demonstrations and practical information to help drivers better understand towing weights, load distribution and safe travel preparation. Importantly, attendees are asked not to bring their own caravan.

Two sessions will be held at the Gawandii Room, Ballina Surf Club:

  • Session 1: 9.30am – 11.30am
  • Session 2: 1.00pm – 3.00pm

Each session is limited to 50 participants and will run for approximately 1.5 hours.

Council encourages early registration as places are expected to fill quickly. Community members can register online at: https://events.humanitix.com/free-caravan-safety-workshops

For further information, contact Helen Carpenter, Road Safety Officer, on 1300 864 444 or email council@ballina.nsw.gov.au.
