Grants Open for 2027 NSW Seniors Festival
Community organisations and councils across the Northern Rivers are being encouraged to apply for funding to host events as part of the 2027 NSW Seniors Festival, with grants of up to $10,000 now available.
Lismore MP Janelle Saffin is urging eligible organisations to take advantage of the 2027 NSW Seniors Festival Grant Program, which aims to support activities that recognise the valuable contribution older people make to their communities while encouraging social connection and inclusion.
The Minns Government has allocated a total of $200,000 for the grants, with individual funding of between $2,000 and $10,000 available to help deliver local events during next year’s festival.
Ms Saffin welcomed the announcement by Minister for Seniors Jodie Harrison that the 2027 festival will be held under the theme “Discover, Connect, Celebrate”, reflecting the important role seniors play in communities across New South Wales.
“The NSW Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions of older people while creating opportunities for them to connect with family, friends and the wider community,” Ms Saffin said.
She encouraged councils, not-for-profit organisations and community groups throughout the Lismore electorate to consider applying for funding to deliver events that showcase local talent, promote healthy ageing and bring communities together.
The 2027 NSW Seniors Festival will run from 1 to 14 March 2027, featuring hundreds of events across the state designed to celebrate seniors and encourage participation in community life.
Grant funding can be used to support a wide range of activities, including cultural events, entertainment, workshops, social gatherings and other initiatives that align with the festival’s theme and objectives.
Applications for the grant program close on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
The NSW Government also delivers several major events as part of the annual festival, including the Premier’s Gala Concerts, the NSW Seniors Festival Expo, Comedy Shows and Regional Seniors Christmas Concerts, providing additional opportunities for seniors to participate in celebrations throughout the year.
