Brunswick Valley VIEW Club Urges Locals to Volunteer 🌼

The Brunswick Valley VIEW Club is encouraging community members to make this year “Your Year to Volunteer” by supporting children’s education through The Smith Family during National Volunteer Week (18–24 May).

VIEW, which stands for Voice, Interests and Education of Women, has more than 13,000 members across nearly 260 communities nationwide. Members support disadvantaged students through fundraising, mentoring and education-focused volunteering programs that help improve learning outcomes.

Club President Rita Strong said this year’s Volunteer Week theme strongly reflects the organisation’s mission to help children succeed through education.

“We help The Smith Family create meaningful change by giving children the best start in life through quality education,” she said. “Last year alone, their programs reached more than 186,000 young Australians.”

Locally, Brunswick Valley VIEW Club supports eight students through the Learning for Life program. Members also raise funds for initiatives such as student2student, which pairs younger readers with volunteer buddies, and Learning Clubs that provide after-school homework support.

The Smith Family CEO Doug Taylor said volunteers remain central to the charity’s success.

“Each year, thousands of volunteers play a vital role in our learning support and mentoring programs,” he said. “Students and families are the ultimate beneficiaries.”

Ms Strong said new members are always welcome and encouraged interested women to attend an upcoming meeting to learn more.

“Together we’re building brighter futures one shared moment at a time,” she said.
