Tweed Hospital Update

Margaret Dekker
Work on the new, $723.3 million Tweed Valley Hospital at Cudgen on the outskirts of Kingscliff is fast taking shape, catching locals’ eyes with the size and scale of the new, state-of-the-art facility.

Work on the project is reportedly on track for completion in 2023 – at a date still to be announced – despite challenges from Covid-19.
The 430-bed hospital is expected to double the capacity of the current Tweed Hospital, offering a full range of health services, and allowing up to 5,000 patients annually across northern NSW to seek hospital treatment and care locally rather than needing to travel to the city or Queensland.

“The Tweed Valley Hospital will be a major referral hospital at the heart of the network of hospitals and health facilities across the Tweed-Byron region. This includes Murwillumbah District Hospital, Byron Central Hospital, community health facilities, and other out-of-hospital services,” the project descriptions states.
