Tweed Health Services to Move into New Community Hub
Residents in the Tweed Heads region will continue to access essential community health services close to home, with plans confirmed to relocate several key health services from the former Tweed Hospital site to modern facilities at Tweed Mall later this year.
Planning is now underway for the move, which will see services transition to newly refurbished clinic spaces on Wharf Street in late 2026. The relocation is aimed at providing patients and healthcare staff with contemporary, purpose-built facilities while maintaining easy access to healthcare in the heart of Tweed Heads.
The services relocating include the BreastScreen NSW clinic, Tweed Community Health, and community-based Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs services.
The Needle and Syringe Program kiosk and the Tweed Heads Ambulance Station will continue operating from the former Tweed Hospital site.
Northern NSW Local Health District Chief Executive Tracey Maisey said the relocation fulfils an earlier commitment to keep vital community health services within the Tweed Heads area.
She said the move would allow residents to continue receiving a broad range of healthcare services locally while benefiting from modern, refurbished facilities designed to meet current healthcare standards.
Ms Maisey said the new location at Tweed Mall offers a safe and convenient environment, including ample free parking for patients and visitors, making it easier for people to attend appointments and access ongoing care. She added that staff and patients would be kept informed throughout the relocation process to ensure a smooth transition.
Health authorities have stressed that there are no immediate changes to existing services. All clinics currently operating from the former Tweed Hospital site will continue to run as normal until the relocation takes place, with contact numbers, opening hours and service locations remaining unchanged for the time being. Updated information will be provided as the move progresses.
The relocation represents another step in the ongoing redevelopment of health services across the Tweed region, ensuring local residents continue to have access to essential community healthcare in modern, accessible facilities.
