Police Launch Operation RAID Across NSW Roads

NSW Police Force has launched Operation RAID, a statewide road safety crackdown targeting drug and drink driving across NSW.

The operation runs from Thursday until early Sunday morning and will involve high-volume roadside alcohol and drug testing on major and local roads.

Operation RAID Targets Drug Driving

Police will also focus on speeding, fatigue, distraction and repeat traffic offenders.

Road safety data shows 24 per cent of fatal crashes in NSW involve illicit substances, while one in 10 drivers tested during 2025 and 2026 allegedly returned positive drug results.

Yasmin Catley said police would be highly visible during the operation.

“If you are doing the wrong thing, there is every chance you will be stopped, tested and put before the courts,” she said.

David Driver said police would continue targeting impaired drivers to help reduce road trauma and fatalities.

Motorists are being reminded roadside testing can occur anywhere across the state during Operation RAID.
