Northern Rivers Sporting Champions Receive Grants Support

Fifteen young athletes from across the Northern Rivers Sporting Champions program have received funding support to help continue competing at higher levels of sport.

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan presented certificates recognising athletes representing the region in surf lifesaving, futsal and water polo competitions.

Recipients included competitors from Alstonville, Goonellabah, Casino, East Lismore, Wollongbar, Dorroughby, Dalwood and Lismore Heights.

The Local Sporting Champions program supports athletes aged 12 to 18 competing at state, national and international levels by assisting families with travel and participation costs.

Mr Hogan said the program plays an important role in supporting regional sporting pathways and encouraging young people to pursue excellence.

He also encouraged other eligible athletes across the Northern Rivers to apply for future funding opportunities.

Sport continues to provide valuable benefits for young people across the region through teamwork, confidence building and healthy lifestyles.
