Lismore City Mayor Steve Krieg has officially launched his campaign for re-election in the upcoming local government elections on September 14. “During the last election, my team received a historic vote on the platform of changing Lismore City Council for the better—focusing on getting the basics right and creating opportunities for growth in our town,” Krieg said. “Just 48 days after I was sworn in as Mayor, our community was hit by Australia’s biggest natural disaster. The 2022 floods changed everything, marking a period of deep trauma and recovery, much of which we are still dealing with today.”
Despite these challenges, Krieg emphasized the achievements of his administration, including progress in the Resilient Lands Program to create more housing, an increase in the CBD occupation rate to nearly 80%, and the reopening of most community facilities. He also noted that the most recent budget continues to focus on essential services while enhancing the amenities that contribute to Lismore’s quality of life.
“As we approach the upcoming elections, I humbly ask for your support to continue delivering and rebuilding together,” Krieg said. “We present a dynamic group of locals who are ready to continue serving our community.”
