Cherry Street Croquet Club Members Shine at Major State and Regional Tournaments
Cherry Street Croquet Club members have once again demonstrated the high standard of croquet being played in the Northern Rivers, achieving a string of outstanding results across several prestigious tournaments held in New South Wales and Queensland.
Competing against some of the country’s leading golf croquet players, club members collected championship titles, runner-up finishes and numerous top placings, highlighting the depth of talent within the club and reinforcing Cherry Street’s reputation as one of the region’s premier croquet clubs.
Coutts Crossing Golf Croquet Doubles
The tournament season began with an excellent showing at the Coutts Crossing Golf Croquet Doubles Tournament, where Cherry Street players featured prominently throughout the competition.
Results included:
- 2nd: Allen & P. Sharp
- 5th: Edlund & Wendy Gilmore
- 7th: Young & M. Lund
The strong performances demonstrated the consistency of Cherry Street’s doubles combinations against quality opposition.
Gold Coast Association Croquet Tournament
The club continued its success at the Gold Coast Association Croquet Singles and Doubles Tournament, where members again featured among the leading players.
Outstanding results included:
- Open Doubles Champions: Gidding & C. Borlase
- Division 3 Singles – 3rd: Waters
- Mixed Doubles – 4th: Waters & J. Roberts
Winning the Open Doubles title was a particularly impressive achievement given the strength of the field.
NSW Advantage Golf Croquet Singles and Doubles Championships
Cherry Street was well represented at the 2026 NSW Advantage Golf Croquet Singles and Doubles Championships, one of the state’s premier golf croquet events.
Singles Championship
Club members produced several excellent performances in the singles competition:
- 5th: Hannigan
- 12th: Kolbe
- 15th: Heathcote
- Hannigan’s top-five finish was an outstanding result against many of New South Wales’ highest-ranked players.
Doubles Championship
Cherry Street’s best result came in the Doubles Championship, where Wendy Gilmore, representing Cherry Street, partnered Dianne Maloney from Sutherland to reach the championship final before finishing as runners-up.

Championship Winners
The 2026 NSW Advantage Golf Croquet Singles Championship was won by Susan Bryan from Sawtell, with Alistair Torrance from Newcastle National Park finishing runner-up.
The Doubles Championship was won by Stewart Sinclair and Donna Sinclair from Port Macquarie, while Wendy Gilmore (Cherry Street) and Dianne Maloney (Sutherland) finished as worthy runners-up after an outstanding tournament.
