$3.5 Million Transformation Unveiled At Burleigh Heads Hotel
An expansive beachfront deck, refreshed sports bar and contemporary coastal menu will usher the landmark hotel into a new era.
A new beachfront deck, modern bistro and transformed sports bar have given the landmark Burleigh Heads Hotel a fresh coastal identity.
One of the Gold Coast’s best-known beachfront pubs will unveil a major new look when the Burleigh Heads Hotel reopens on Friday, September 25.
The $3.5 million redevelopment represents the venue’s most significant transformation in years, delivering a revitalised bistro and sports bar alongside a striking new beachfront deck.
The deck has reshaped the hotel’s façade and opened the venue towards uninterrupted views across the Burleigh foreshore.
Its completion comes during a period of significant change for Burleigh Heads, driven by population growth, rising visitor numbers and major transport investment.
Passenger services on the Gold Coast light rail extension from Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads began in August. The new connection has made the popular beachfront precinct more accessible to residents and visitors from across the city.
ALH Hotels managing director Paul Walton said the redevelopment reflected the company’s commitment to evolving alongside one of Australia’s leading coastal destinations.
“Burleigh Heads has changed enormously over the past decade, driven by strong local growth and major infrastructure projects like the light rail expansion,” Mr Walton said.
“This multi-million-dollar refresh ensures the Burleigh Heads Hotel evolves with the region.
“We are investing heavily in our venues to deliver state-of-the-art hospitality experiences while ensuring these iconic local hubs continue to thrive for years to come.”
Publican Annie Kublins said the priority was modernising the hotel without losing the relaxed atmosphere that had made it a longstanding local destination.
“The new front deck completely transforms the venue,” Ms Kublins said.
“For the first time, guests can sit right on the beachfront edge, take in the ocean views and soak up everything that makes Burleigh special.”
The hotel will reopen immediately before the AFL Grand Final weekend and the beginning of the busy summer hospitality period.
“Opening just in time for the AFL Grand Final weekend and summer was non-negotiable for us, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back,” Ms Kublins said.
Coastal Setting Shapes New Design
Cayas + Ward Architects designed the refurbishment with a strong connection to Burleigh’s coastal surroundings.
A lighter, more contemporary interior reflects the neighbouring beach and natural landscape, while the new deck creates a stronger connection between the hotel and the foreshore.
Rather than replacing the established character of the hotel, the redesign aims to create a more comfortable and modern version of the familiar beachfront venue.
The redevelopment also strengthens the hotel’s ability to cater for major sporting events, casual meals, social gatherings and the increased visitor activity expected during summer.
New Menu And Cocktail Selection
The hotel has refreshed its food and beverage offering as part of the redevelopment.
The new menu will focus on contemporary coastal pub dining, combining share plates and fresh local seafood with familiar pub favourites.
An expanded drinks selection will include several signature cocktails created for the reopening.
New additions include the Burleigh Paloma, Passionfruit Caipirinha and Yuzu Cucumber Collins.
The refreshed sports bar will reopen in time to broadcast the AFL Grand Final live on Saturday, September 26.
Doors officially open at 10am on Friday, September 25.
