Limousin Cross Steers Top Beaudesert Market At $2,370

Strong buyer confidence fuelled by recent rainfall helped drive a much dearer market across all categories at the latest Beaudesert Store Sale, according to agents Bartholomew and Co. An outstanding yarding of heavy steers attracted strong competition, with buyers responding positively to improved seasonal conditions and the prospect of further rain.

Leading the steer section were two-year-old Limousin cross steers from Ben Harmer of Kingsholme, which sold for a sale-topping $2,370. Yawarra Pty Ltd of Nindooinbah achieved $2,200 for 20-month-old Santa steers, while Dale Oppermann of Kerry sold 18-month-old Santa steers for $2,000. Charolais cross steers from MRJ Properties, Palen Creek, made $1,950, while Paul and Carroll Bambling of Natural Bridge received $1,810 for their 18-month-old Droughtmaster cross steers.

Other notable steer results included Droughtmaster steers from Michael and Chloe White of Palen Creek selling for $1,560, Charolais cross steers from Wayne Gehrke of Grandchester making $1,500, and Braford weaner steers from Ron Gon-Chee of Tamborine reaching $1,390. Charolais cross weaner steers from Wade and Kirsty Carter of Frenches Creek sold for $1,370, while Mandalong weaner steers from Dusty Bailey of Mt Barney made $1,120.

In the female section, 12-month-old Charolais cross heifers from MRJ Properties topped the heifer market at $1,290. Droughtmaster weaner heifers from Marula Pastoral Company Pty Ltd, Dugandan, sold for $850, while Braford and Charbray weaner heifers from Ron Gon-Chee and Wayne Gehrke achieved $840 and $820 respectively.

Cow prices were equally strong, with Brahman cross cows from The Maudsley Family of Wolfdene selling for $2,000. Senepol cross cows from Les Draheim of Roadvale made $1,900, while Droughtmaster cross cows from Logan River Lucerne, Beaudesert, sold for $1,700. Charolais cross cows and calves offered by Jeff Johnson and Yolande Templeton realised $1,950.

A Santa bull sold by Logan River Lucerne topped the bull section at $3,000. The next Beaudesert Store Sale will be held on Saturday, 4 July, commencing at 9.30am.
