Aramex Australia is opening new contractor-driver opportunities, providing exciting courier driver opportunities. This comes as delivery workers face growing job insecurity heading into the peak Christmas period. The move comes as the industry absorbs the impact of Menulog’s decision to shut down its Australian operations on 26 November. This closure is expected to affect thousands of delivery drivers and around 120 employees.
Aramex Oceania Regional Director Mark Little said the industry upheaval has left many workers reassessing their future.
“With Menulog’s exit from the market, it’s clear that thousands of delivery drivers are reassessing their options. We’re ready to welcome those individuals into a business that is growing due to the continued e-commerce boom,” Mr Little said.
He noted that the Christmas period remains the busiest time of year for Aramex courier franchisees and delivery drivers. Online shopping demand surges nationwide during this time.
“We hope this provides an opportunity for affected drivers to pivot into something more stable. Meanwhile, we expand our national delivery network,” he said.
Aramex is offering two pathways: short-term seasonal contractor work for drivers wanting immediate opportunities. Additionally, there are courier franchise territories for those interested in establishing a long-term, small business operation. Both options are designed to provide stability and income certainty. This is crucial during what has become a turbulent period for delivery workers.
With demand expected to accelerate rapidly in the lead-up to Christmas, Aramex is encouraging interested drivers to make contact early. It warns that seasonal contracts and franchise territories are limited.
The company says the current disruptions across the delivery sector highlight the need for sustainable employment pathways — something it believes its contractor and franchise model can help provide as the e-commerce economy continues to grow.
