GRANTS BLITZ TEAM DELIVERS $2.4 MILLION
The NSW Government’s grants blitz team has completed its sixth deployment in the Northern Rivers region, approving more than 210 grant applications totalling $2,408,906.
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said the latest deployment targeted Chinderah, Mullumbimby and Murwillumbah between 15 and 25 August.
“Our team of specialist grants assessors was deployed to Chinderah for two days, Mullumbimby for two days and Murwillumbah for three days, assisting 783 people,” Ms Cooke said.
“This latest deployment follows successful stints in Ballina, Casino, Chinderah, Evans Head and Lismore, which have helped 2,619 people and approved more than 1,060 grant applications totalling $12.6 million in flood recovery funding.”
Parliamentary Secretary for Police and Emergency Services and Member for Tweed Geoff Provest said the grants blitz team has made the flood recovery process as straightforward as possible, by providing face-to-face assistance.
“Sitting down with a specialist grants assessor and talking through the process of applying for grants has made such a difference, particularly for caravan park residents in Chinderah,” Mr Provest said.
“I encourage individuals, families, farmers and business owners in our community to continue accessing flood recovery grants and assistance through Recovery Centres and assistance points or on the NSW Government website.”
