Northern Rivers Resilience Initiative stakeholder engagement
The National Emergency Management Agency has engaged CSIRO to undertake the Northern Rivers Resilience Initiative to understand the climate, catchment, and hydrological drivers in the region. It aims to drive long term resilience by delivering priority projects that mitigate the impact of disasters on communities and economies and ensure they are in a better position to recover from future disasters.
Engagement sessions to consult local stakeholders and organisations about their views on identified and prioritised existing flood mitigation project proposals will be held at Maclean and Grafton:
- Wednesday 26 October: Maclean Bowling Club
- Thursday 27 October: Grafton Regional Gallery
Similar sessions will be held throughout the seven flood-affected Local Government Areas in the region, including separate sessions for councils.
Sessions will run for approximately seven hours from 11am to 6pm. Participants must pre-register and will be invited to drop in at a convenient time to meet one-on-one with a project team member.
The findings will help inform how the Australian Government’s commitment of $150 million in 2022-23 can best target the immediate and longer-term needs of the region.
