Cruise Ship Medical Evacuation – Yamba
Around 1pm, on Wednesday 20 November, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to a cruise ship, approximately 25 nautical miles off the coast of Yamba to conduct an urgent medical evacuation of a woman in her 50s suffering a serious medical condition. The helicopter’s critical care medical team were winched onboard the ship to stabilise the patient before winch extracting her and airlifting her to Gold Coast University Hospital.
