BYRON PEDESTRIAN CRITICAL AFTER CAR HIT
A 62 year old man is in a critical condition in the Gold Coast University Hospital in Southport after he was hit by a car in a main street of Byron Bay on Monday evening.
Tweed Byron Police District say the man was walking along Byron Street in Byron Bay just before six o’clock when he attempted to cross Fletcher Street. As he stepped out onto the road he was struck by a Toyota station wagon driven by a female driver who was taken to Byron Bay Hospital for mandatory testing.
The man suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital on the Gold Coast.
Inquiries are continuing by officers from the Tweed Byron Police District. Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam or other information is urged to contact police.
